Do you have a mentor? If not, find a mentor and be open to feed back and learning. It is amazing what you can learn if you are just open to it. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Be courteous. You never know when you will need someone to be courteous to you. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Make sure that you think before you speak. I joined Toastmasters International about 9 months ago to help improve my public speaking, and I have improved. One of the best parts of our meetings is presenting a speech, but my next favorite part is Table Topics where you are asked to think about a given topic and respond for 1-2 minutes. It definitely helps you learn to think on your feet. So stop, pause and think, before you respond. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Who are your top five mentors? What five people invested in you to help you become better than you were before you knew them? Understanding that other people helped you grow, what have you done to pay it forward? Consider reaching out to those mentors who helped you succeed and become the person or in the role that you are in today and thank them. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Learn to laugh at yourself. Many years ago I worked for s manager that put me in an uncomfortable position that was totally out of my comfort zone. I really didn't want to do with this manager was asking, but they didn't give me a choice. That experience alone got me to learn to laugh at myself and have fun doing it. It helped me become a better leader, manager, father, and husband. And not in that order. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. It's all about starting with the right people. My job as a leader is to get everyone on the team on the same bus, in the right seat, all going in the same direction. When that happens, that's where the magic begins of building a winning team. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. With or without training those that are determined to win, win. There are people that can figure out how to win. They can learn an industry, how to present and sell a product, all withou ever being trained. Then there are those employees who think we'll...I didn't get this or I don't have that. When you are known for making it happen, none of that matters and the excuses go out the window. It can be done if you put your mind to it. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. When you do what you love and what you're passionate about, it makes work and life so much better. Not that it's not hard, but it's that much more enjoyable. You can tell the people that love their jobs and those that don't. Find anyone at work and observe them for five minutes and you can tell if they love what they do or not. So do what you love. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Many of the things you have or you want, ask yourself this… Do you really need it? Just because you want something or want to keep something, doesn't mean you really want it or need it. Learn to live with a little, so you can be trusted with a lot. Plus it makes moving a lot easier. :-) And it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. So I took two weeks off to move. And during that time I had a lot of time to think. Do you know what you think, you become. If you think that you are positive, you become positive. If you think you're being a jerk, chances are you are. Change what goes on between your ears and change your life. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
