Sandbagging is it terminology in sales used to reference future sales that are signed and ready to go now, but you decided not to because you want help your next month or next cycle. To be awesome, if you prepare properly you don't need to sandbag because you will continue to have enough activity to produce top shelf results. Believe in yourself, know your skills and what you need to do to get better, increase your productivity with face-to-face or conversations on the phone with decision-makers, and you won't have a need to feel like you need to sandbag. True sales pro rock stars never have a need to sandbag because they put in the right activities every day to win every month and they don't like to wait to be paid on sales they already have signed. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
What is your style? I am not referring to your clothes or hair, but how do you approach situations. Do you lead with your head or with your heart? Understand that before you had children and after they finish high school and go off to college it will just be you and your spouse. Make sure your cherish that relationship first, and then your children after. Work to create special memories that can help you sustain and reflect during the tough times. Consider what the overall impact would be if you went to sleep one hour earlier every night. Take the challenge and start going to bed at least one hour earlier and watch the impact on your weight, mental sharpness, decreased irritability,decrease in coffee intake, and overall wellbeing. After all, increasing your sleep is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. What is your energy level that you bring? High or low? Or does it depend on the situation? Start paying attention to your energy level and see if you adjust it accordingly to various situations. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask others that you trust to provide you with honest feedback. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Who do you have in your lifeline? Who are the people you can call when you need help or advice? Having a list of a variety of people with different backgrounds and opinions can help you tackle the biggest challenges and obstacles that you face on a regular basis. Following my father's passing, I was made aware of a binder that my dad created for my mom. It was a binder that had all the important documents and legal information in it. The binder was locked in a bank vault and updated regularly as the information changed. That is a best practice and as we all grow older we must understand that our futures are uncertain. Having that information in one place helped calm my mother during a very difficult time following the sudden death of my father.
