After growing up in Florida and moving to Kentucky years ago, shoveling snow at first looked like a great idea and I thought it would be fun. What I have learned over the years is it can be dangerous. Who knew? Take breaks and make sure that your heart and your body is in good enough shape to shovel the snow. Otherwise you could have some serious health issues and potentially have a heart attack like somebody I know's grandfather. So take care of your health and make sure you're healthy enough to shovel snow or hire someone to do it. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Are you in A player? If you're not, what can you do right now to make you become an A player? Figure that out and move towards becoming and A player. It may be uncomfortable for you to do whatever is necessary to become an A player, but step up and know that you can make it happen. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. What are you focused on in 2016? Write down what two or three things that you want to accomplish or improve on in 2016. Put some smart goals together that are simple, measurable, actionable, reachable, and time-bound. It's the only way to know that you will grow. Hold yourself accountable and have someone else hold you accountable to become better than you were. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Sometimes you don't have to go find them, they'll find you. This goes for relationships, recruiters, and employers. It all starts off with a conversation, being likeable and trustworthy. Most people know within minutes, if not hours, if this could be the right fit. Don't push it too hard, apply what you have learned that is positive. By all means don't act or appear desperate. It will not serve you well. Just be yourself, because in six months that will come out if you weren't. It's how long lasting relationships are built. And it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. 2 You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth. 3 So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go and humble yourself; Plead with your friend. 4 bGive no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids. 5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the 3fowler. 3One who catches birds in a trap or snare Proverbs 6:2-5 (NKJV) For some things, make sure you don't wait. For example if your service engine light comes on in your vehicle and you don't have it looked at by a mechanic immediately, it can cost you a lot more than if you had taken it in when the light initially came on. By understanding what not to wait on, it can make your life less stressful and save you money. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Giving high-fives either in person or via email or can help build up confidence and someone. Take time to build someone up to recognize them for the job they're doing. Make sure that you bring out the good in them and tell them how good they're doing as well as tell them two or three things they could change. The delivery of the message matters so make sure you customize your feedback and high-fives in a way that you can recognize what they did great and give them a couple of nuggets to help them become better than they were. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. If or when you travel for business, it's always great to be back home. Make time to communicate with your family or friends while you're away. Continuing to build those relationships when you're far away and not home, is an important piece of growing together. Make sure your family and friends know that when you travel how much you care. You may never know what tomorrow brings, but if you communicate every day how you feel about the ones you love and care about, there will never be any doubt about what you think and how you feel. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. You never know who is watching you. Make sure you behave around people that you think you don't know the same way that you would behave around your family, friends, and work associates. Because you never know who's watching and observing you. Remember your character and your integrity is the foundation for your family name. You can lose your home, love ones and everything but they can't take away your name. So do the right things when you should do them and behave like everyone's watching. Ask yourself this question, would you say or do that it would be posted on the front of the Google within 60 seconds of you saying or doing that? If not, don't do it. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. The older I get, the more I value my sleep. Make sure that you get at least eight hours per night of sleep and rest and if it's a child make that 10 hours. Getting some sleep and rest helps your body be ready for the next day and your mind to be rejuvenated and have a fresh start. This can help manage your stress level and help you be as sharp as you can be every day. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
