Take it serious. You have a job to do. Make sure you show up, even when you don't want to. Even when you don't feel like. Even when you are sick. You have to post up. You have a job to do. It's that work ethic that separates those that make things happen versus those that watch what happens and those that wonder what happen. After all taking your work serious and posting up daily is the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Build them up. Don't beat them down. That's the different from leading with the heart versus leading with the head. They are different approaches, but I believe the heart always trumps the head, long term. After all building them up is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. What ever you are passionate about, you can build a successful career around. Dream big, cast the right vision, don't practice getting better on your customers, and push yourself every day to win. Because it's your passion, don't forget to have a good work/home life balance.. After all it's the right thing to and it models the way for others. What would it take for you to make a sale every day next week? Figure it out, put together a plan with specific strategies and tactics, then go execute the plan. Commit to not stopping each day until you get a sale. It may be challenging, but what you will learn from accomplishing it will be extremely valuable to replicating it every week. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. I am a big believer that how you dress impacts how you perform. So dress for success, step up your game and watch how others around you respond. People buy you and your confidence in yourself and what you are selling. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Life happens and things happen, sometimes when you least expect it. Many times when you are not looking for it or when it may just come out of the blue. I just found out that my best friend's father-in-law passed away yesterday. Many times you can't plan for that to happen, especially when it's all of a sudden or the causes are currently unknown. So take time every day to cherish the relationships and make time for what is important. Mend broken relationships if you have any. And have no regrets. Live life to the fullest. Strive to be happy. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. "If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously." -Romans 12:8 Growing up this poem was on a sign in our house with one of my siblings. I'm not sure it had the intended outcome. As a parent and a leader, make sure to inspire and cast a vision. And for those younger than you, you may need to explain the "why." Don't just tell them what to do. Leadership, whether for a family or at work, requires more. Help them see the way and don't just put a "motivational plaque" in front of them to inspire re them. After all that's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. A Smile "A smile is something nice to see, it doesn't cost a cent. A smile is something all your own, it never can be lent. A smile is welcome everywhere, it does away with frowns. A smile is good for everyone, to help them when they're down." -author unknown When a rep is struggling in sales, take time to have a conversation with them. Ask them to go home over the weekend and think of 1) what three areas they need to improve the most and would make the biggest difference, 2) what are they going to do about it, and 3) what do they want your help with. They need to step it up. You can't want it more for them than they do for themselves. Then it's your job to teach them and show them the way on what they need your help from. You can't give up on someone until you take the time to teach them. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Knowing when to have the right conversation is as important as the conversation itself. Time of the day and day of the week matter. Learn to motivate your team and those around you by planning when you have your specific conversations. After all building them up in the morning and throughout the week can do more for you than having tough conversations during this time. Give honest feedback and coach them up, but save the really difficult conversations for Friday afternoons. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
