Make sure that you say please and thank you. When someone helps you become the better you, say thank you. When someone does something nice for you, say thank you. And always, when you ask for something, say please. After all, it's the right thing to do in the models the way for others.
Make sure to plan some teambuilding events. With my previous compsny, The Berry Company, we called those fun flashes. The idea was you would flash your sales numbers and then celebrate with a team building event of having some iced cold beverages, some appetizers, an occasional fun activity, and always som great comraderie. The original Berry Company no longer exists, after Southwestern Bell bought AT&T, then changed its name to AT&T and bought BellSouth, which The Berry Company was owned by. AT&T sold off one-third of The Berry Company to Local Insight Regatta Holdings and kept the other two-thirds of The Berry Company. AT&T renamed the part they kept internally for payroll purposes as L.M. Berry Co. after the company founder, Mr. Loren M. Berry. That ended and era, just 2-years short of The Berry Company's 100th anniversary. To the public the go-to name has since been AT&T Advertising & Publishing and and just before and after AT&T sold their controlling share to the private equity firm, Cerberus, it has market the company as YP, with their flagship website being YP.com. In memory of all of the outstanding leaders from The Berry Company that invested in me and my development, I will carry on with the tradition, purpose and name of monthly "fun flashes" to celebrate our team's successes and wins. I learned many best practices and the "fun flashes" will carry on where ever my path may take me. After all, it's the right thing to do in the models the way for others. You may have heard the statement "past performance predicts future behaviors." Make sure that you make the right decisions every day to create the best behaviors so you can win. That way you can look back at the steps you took to win and replicate it. That is one of the ways that winners win. Ultimately they do what they need to do when they need to do it whether they feel like it or not. Plus, it's the right thing to do and models the way for others. Decide who you will follow. At work, will you follow the leader? Not like the childhood game, but do you believe in your manager. Ask yourself if you are with or without your manager. Do they have vision, are they leading you in the right direction? Are they helping you learn? Are they learning themselves? Decide if you are in or not. It is of the utmost importance to enjoying your work. It will make a huge impact on your overall job satisfaction. Choose wisely. After all, it's the right thing to do in that model is the way for others. What are you known for? If I was going to ask your best friend or spouse, what would they say you are best known for. Figure that out and build a vision and a future for yourself around that. That way you will be doing what you love. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Choose your words carefully. They can hurt more than anything else. Make sure that your words are uplifting. I's better to be blunt and to the point than to be wishy-washy about how you feel. Words can linger in your head if you're the recipient of sharp, mean, or cruel words. So be careful not to create a situation that is very hard to get out of. It's easier to forgive than it is to forget. So watch your words. Pause and reflect before you speak. After all, it's the right thing to do and models the way for others. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32 Happy Independence Day. On this July 4th I'm very thankful for our founding fathers, for our religious freedom, and for the Constitution. Be thankful for this great country of ours, the United States of America. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Don't be a puppet. According to Goolge, a puppet (n) is defined as: "a person, party, or state under the control of another person, group, or power." Watch out for master puppeteers. A master pupeteer's goal is that without you fully knowing, they get you to do something that you wouldn't normally do on your own. Be on the lookout and run the other direction. Be aware and be wise. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Work to be the best employee that your manager has ever managed or worked with. If you are a manager, then work to be the best boss your employees have ever had. Write down what characteristics or attributes the best employee or best manager has and become that. After all, it's the right thing to do in that models the way for others. |
