I'm amazed by the number of people that I talk to about a job or career opportunity and they opt out instead of opting in before they fully understand the opportunity. Move forward, go through the interview, and see once there's an offer on the table if it's the right opportunity for you, before you opt out and never know about the opportunity. Some of the best advice I received from my father was "it doesn't cost anything to listen." (Thanks to my sister for reminding of that recently.) And you might just be surprised by the outcome. After all, it's the right thing to do in models the way for others.
Make sure that you share what you need. If someone doesn't know what you need, they can't meet your expectations or your needs. So be open, be vulnerable, and openly discuss what you need. After all, it's the right thing to do when models the way for others. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:12-13 NIV Sometimes when you are out in the sun, the sun can drain your energy. It can be the same way when you are under the spotlight or it the hot seat. If you watch the weather forecast, you will hear a paid professional predict what to expect for the upcoming weather conditions. It's the same in business, if you look for signs and surround yourself with wise counsel, you can have a better understanding of what is coming. So pay attention and be prepared. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Where do you want to be at six months out? Whether it's with work, how would you like to see your relationships improve, or something else. So make a plan of where you want to be six months out and work to make it happen. It's easier to work at six months at a time to achieve long term success. After all, it's the right thing to do and models the way for others. After a day like today, I know how truly blessed I am. It started off with many phone calls with birthday song singing to me, then an awesome fun flash with my team at work we went bowling, And they presented me with my three favorite things. :-) Then I met my family and my awesome in-laws for dinner at PF Changs. Next we came home had cake and opened some awesome presents. When you're surrounded by awesome people and an awesome family all the time, sometimes you miss out on moments like today. I am very blessed to work with such an awesome team and have such a wonderful family. Take time to realize how blessed you may truly be every day. After all, it's the right thing to do when models the way for others. There is nothing that can replace the Happy Birthday song. Facebook posts can't. Text messages can't. Emails can't. And e-cards can't. It's that extra special touch of picking up the phone and hearing one of your favorite people sing you Happy Birthday. Thanks Uncle T. :-) It's even a little more special knowing that "Happy Birthday to You" is attributed to Louisville, KY siblings Patty Hill and Mildred J. Hill, even though they failed to copyright it and someone else did.. It is also the most recognizable song in the U.S. and has been translated into 18 different languages. So brighten up your favorite people's life by singing them Happy Birthday. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Sometimes it's better to step away and be quiet than respond and react. When you step away, it gives you a chance to not regret anything you might have said. It also gives you the opportunity to think about what the best course of action or words you should say after stepping away. So if you need to, step away and think about what you should say, instead of regretting what you said. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. It's OK to speak up. It's better to talk to someone, than about them. When you talk with the person and tell them what's on your mind, it helps to build a relationship and help you both grow closer. Make sure that you are respectful, but truthful when you speak. It's how the best people get better, and you get to help with their development. After all, it's the right thing to do at Miles the way for others. |
