When someone at work retires, take the time to write them a note for their memory book or just to have. Recently a leader in my company who was involved in interviewing me, hiring me, and promoting me into management retired after 28 years. I already have an idea of what I plan to hand write to him this weekend and send. After all he has done for me, an hour out of my weekend is well worth it to show my appreciation and gratitude to this exceptional leader who has always had my back. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
