Recently during a team outing at a restaurant a co-worker observed most team members on their phone and decided to collect phones in a hat or bucket until the end of dinner. Put down your phone when with group settings like work or at home. By doing this you realize how much smart phones invade our lives and impact our ability to communicate. One co-worker even turns off her phone when going in to meet with her clients because she says she believes the cell phone is a distraction and rude to have turned on during her client meetings. When was the last time you actually turned your phone off? Put your phone away or turn it off and see the improvement in your overall communications. Your spouse, children, clients, and co-workers will see a difference in your focus on them instead of what's happening on your phone. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
