Master your trade or craft. Be known as an expert in your field. Work to become better through increasing your knowledge by learning. Don't practice on your customers. Use all the tools in your bag if needed to achieve excellence. Have balance in your life for what is truly important. Don't give excuses. Be known for making it happen. And then you may become a trusted adviser. After all, it is then that you can have the biggest impact on those around you and your surrounds and model the way for others.
