In the middle of the first week during a short month, when you are struggling with almost every initiative set forth by your manager and your company, if your manager happens to not be around do you leave at 5? Or do you stay until 6 or 6:30 focusing on preparing for the next day? Are you prepared to win days before or do you prepare the day of your customer appointments? Many jobs in this economy require more of you. Stand out in the crowd by stepping up to do more. If or when tough decisions about who stays and who goes arise, your stepping up and not always leaving at 5:00 or 5:01 will be remembered. Rise to the ocassion now and put forth the extra hours now. It's the fourth quarter, the clocks running out, and you have the ball...what more will you do extra to win? Even when your manager's away, they hear and sometimes even get pictures of your empty office at 5:05. Do what's right, what you know you need to do to win, even when you don't feel like it. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
