Make sure you clarify a question someone is asking. Otherwise you may give an answer to a question that wasn't asked and you may take an unnecessary amount of time conversing about the wrong thing. Explain the why once you clarify. If the conversation goes the wrong way, stay focused to get the conversation back on track. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
