Sometimes you need to make sacrifices. The order of my priorities is God, wife, children, work, family, friends. Every once in a while, work may move above my wife and children, but it's only for a short period of a day or several days. I understand that my wife's security and me providing for my wife and children is a top priority...and so does my wife and children. My children say that I have a "bad job" and that my wife who works a couple of days a week when I am home at a high-end retail shop for the fun of it and the discounts has a "fun job." I'm okay with my children's assessment...because I leave for work before they get up in the morning when it's dark and because they know I am working hard, smart and making an impact every day. Are you willing to make sacrifices to show your family and maybe even your employer that your work is important and it matters. I work to provide for my family, and I am in the line of work that I am in because I am passionate about what I do and want to make an impact. Demonstrating by your actions that you are willing to make sacrifices is noble and it can gain the trust and respect from those you love. It's another way to lead by example, provide protection and security, and model the way.
