Make sure that you fully understand the situation. The best way to do this is to ask second and third level probing questions. This will help you understand any situation and make sure that you fully know what's going on and the best possible solutions. Ask questions. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Sometimes it's okay just to be silent… (insert silence here) :-) Who's back do you have? Not what "monkeys" do you have on your back, if you have read "The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey." Make sure you show by your actions and your words that you have people's backs. In the hustle and bustle of life, the actions to support those that you have their back may get lost in the words themselves. So make sure that without a doubt that people whose back you have, know that you have their back. After all, it's the right thing to do and models the way for others. 7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 2 Corinthians 2:7 Time flies, so make every minute count. It seems like the older you get the faster time goes by. Spend time with those you should and carve out time for what's really important. Have no regrets, ever. After all, it's the right thing to do with that models the way for others. Don't complain. If you are with a group of people that are all positive and you are the only complainer, stop it. Don't discourage those around you. Instead find a way to make it happen. The old saying that you maybe heard your parent's say: "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything," makes a whole lot of sense. Be a positive influence and believe in the the impossible. It's where dreams come true. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Have you ever peeled back an onion and removed the skin? Sometime you pick an onion and the more you peel back the worse it gets. Sometimes when you peel the onion back it can make you cry. And other times when you peel the onion back you find an onion that's full of flavor. Onions are like people...each one started as a seed in dirt, the top of the onion rose from the dirt while it grew bigger over time. Too much water, not enough water, too many bad influences like pests, disease, or chemicals can ruin what's growing deep within. Every onion has a story, just like you. So be mindful of your internal and external influences to make sure you can grow to your full potential. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Ice equals In Case of Emergency. Do you have your emergency contact saved on your phone in case of an emergency? Do you have the best way to get a hold of your spouse or family member if there was an emergency? Make sure that you have their numbers and that they have yours. Verify that you have all of them in case if there was an emergency and they needed to get a hold of you or you need to get a hold of them. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Sometimes you may have to work late to get it all done. What I have found is that it's better to work one day per week late or one night late per month if that works. But if that doesn't work, don't work multiple nights till 7:30 or 8:00 pm, it's better to work late one night per week or one night per month and have a balanced life the rest of the nights. After all, it's the right thing to do and at models the way for others. Sometimes when the load gets heavy from work, home, and life… I realize that I can't do it all. Even though I know what has to be done, there just aren't enough hours in the day. Don't let your ego get in the way and ask for help. It's during these times that you just have to ask for help or get a lifeline. After all it's the right thing to do and models the way for others. |
