My daughter this past week said something to me that has stayed on my mind and I believe it is a point worth sharing. Most nights I end up putting my daughter to bed, and occasionally she is scared. So I tell her that my job as her daddy is to keep her safe and protect her, her brother, and her mother. So this past week one night when she was scared and I responded with my usual...keep her safe and protect her...she looked up at me, tilted her head at an angle and with a big smile on her face and said, "You're my brave protector." to which I replied, why yes, yes I am. As the man in our home, I know my wife and children rely on me to provide for them and protect them. Plan and decide now what you would do in the face of danger to be a brave protector for your family. That way under a stressful or intense situation you don't have to decide. What can you do now to be viewed as the '"brave protector" to your family or friends if needed. It's another way to live out words by your actions and model the way.
