It's important not to lose your cool. Once you accept and realize that God is in control and you are not, it becomes easier to accept when things don't go exactly as you would like. Find an outlet to get rid of anger or frustrations, like working out, krav magaw, or running, because if you don't, built up anger and frustrations can impact your health and relationships. Asking for help by seeking wise council like a counselor is a sign of strength and wisdom. Take care of your heart, your head, and your body. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for those you love and those that love you.
If you are a leader, give others the opportunity to lead. When you give others on your team or in your group the opportunity to lead you can observe and learn what motivates your team and it's members. Plus you can see who else on your team has leadership potential. You might be surprised what you will learn about the members on your team when you see them in a totally different light. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for those you lead and those that look up to you. Whatever they may be, follow your dreams. Those that love and care about you will help along the the way. Whether it's a certain degree, a hobby you love, a new job or career, or moving to a new city. You'll have to push yourself, get out of your comfort zone, and get down on your knees and pray. For when you get there and look back in your path you'll see God put friends and loved ones to encourage you and help make it happen. So aim high, dream big, and go for it. You might just be surprised what God has in store for you. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58 Fools don't learn because fools don't listen. "The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice." Proverbs 12:15 Take care of yourself and your health. Make sure to get an annual physical. Consider having an annual flu shot and maybe even get a pheumonia shot as preventative care. Take care of your body by exercising and take care of your mind and body by eating healthy by eating fresh vegetables and fresh fruits, while limiting snack foods, white foods like pasta and potatoes, grains and sugar. Making these changes takes a concerted effort and a commitment from you, but it's the right thing to do and it models the way for those that you love, those that love you and those that look up to you. In sales work to build partnerships. In order to accomplish this you will need to: 1. Pray for the relationship 2. Over-communicate 3. Set realistic expectations 4. Over-communicate again 5. Extend grace when things don't happen as quick as you would like 6. Over-communicate some more 7. Work to resolve any issues or shortcomings that may arise as quickly as possible 8. Over-communicate again 9. Do what you say you will do 10. Over-communicate some more 11. Pray for the relationship By starting and ending with prayer, you recognize that God is in control in the beginning and ending of all. Overcommunicating in the middle often helps build trust and respect. Building successful partnerships models the way for those that love you and those the look to you. Having rules helps guide you what to do and what not to do. I recently watched the movie, "People Like Us" and the main character Sam shares the following 6 Rules of Life (adapted for my site) that he learned from his father: "The six rules of life. Do you have rules established for your family? What are your family values? What life lessons or rules do you want to pass onto your children. Sit down and craft them with your spouse. It could be a great date night activity, that will bring you closer, be a fun activity, and put down into words what life lessons you want to pass onto your children. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for those you love. God will continue to show you who is in control until you give up control. Realize that you cannot control everything. If you are someone who makes things happen, understand who is really in control. Giving up control and accepting the outcome, both good and bad is a sign of maturity and humility. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for those you love, those that love you, and those that look up to you. Recently during a team outing at a restaurant a co-worker observed most team members on their phone and decided to collect phones in a hat or bucket until the end of dinner. Put down your phone when with group settings like work or at home. By doing this you realize how much smart phones invade our lives and impact our ability to communicate. One co-worker even turns off her phone when going in to meet with her clients because she says she believes the cell phone is a distraction and rude to have turned on during her client meetings. When was the last time you actually turned your phone off? Put your phone away or turn it off and see the improvement in your overall communications. Your spouse, children, clients, and co-workers will see a difference in your focus on them instead of what's happening on your phone. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
