There's more to a sales career than just selling and hitting your numbers. I have seen many reps lose their jobs for just thinking that the only component of the sales job is just to achieve their numbers. It's important that you understand and work well with both your internal and external customers, because they are both important. Besides achieving your numbers, it's also important that you have a great attitude. Make sure you are not negative and that you work with internal and external customers to the best of your ability. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Speak up if you have something to say. If you don't agree with something or someone then speak up and make sure your point is heard because you may have a better idea. By asking your questions, you can help challenge the group, organization, or people involved to become better than they were. So speak up. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. I'm starting to see signs of the beginnings of an awesome team. Being able to work together and learn and grow and help each other is exciting to see. Instead of hearing "this is mine," " I'm too busy," or "I can't," I'm hearing words like "sure," "I will," and "we." Work together as a team and learn to grow together. After all that's when amazing things can happen, plus it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Talk about what's really important. Make sure you take time to talk about the most important things. If you have limited time, dig deep. If you don't dig deep now, you may miss the opportunity to really understand the situation, what to do, or the desired outcome. So make sure that you talk about what's really important. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Thank your teachers, coaches, and mentors. These individuals are all about you becoming better than you were before you knew them. A simple thank you, whether it's a handwritten note, an email, or even a text, it goes a long way to show your appreciation. So take the time and tell them thank you. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. So I started using my iPhone for tasks. I want to make sure that I have a great system to follow up with current to do items. Using my paper tasks plan is just not working as effective as it needs to be. The iPhone tasks has a way to follow the A, B, c way of priori zing that I learned in a Franklin Quest course, prior to the company becoming Franklin Covey. What plan do you have to make sure that you follow up on tasks or commitments? Whatever your plan is, just make sure that you live up to your commitments and be a person of your word. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. 24But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24 (NIV) What career path are you on? Is that the right one? Should you change? Sometimes in life you ask yourself these questions and at the fork in the road you take a different road. You change your path and your direction every time you change jobs. Sometimes you may change careers and not just jobs, and it's in these times that you fully understand what path you should be on. So take the time and make the time for your career path. If you're on the wrong path, change your course, take a new fork in the road and and up in a different place...a better place. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Who do you admire? What characteristics or traits do you specifically admire about them? Do you admire them for the traits they have because you have them, or because you don't have them?If it's because you don't have them, then what specific steps have you taken to improve on these traits in the past 30 days? Take time to become better and be an example of modeling the way for others. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
