Be the person you were meant to be. It takes growth, changing, adapting and self-sacrifice, but it's well worth it on the other side. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Step it up. Do extra. Do more than you planned on doing. Work smart. Push yourself to win. Sometimes the extra effort will push you over the finish line so you can win. It's the extra that you do when you step it up that helps separate the winners from the rest of the pack. So step it up, after all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Whenever someone tells me that they are having a bad day, I share with them something my grandmother used to say, "Tomorrow will be better." The simple phrase, helps one to end the bad day with hope and belief that tomorrow will be better. By going to bed with that mindset, guess what...tomorrow is usually better. Train your mind to believe. It's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Ask the right questions if you truly want to understand any situation. Whether you are on a sales call or having a conversation with a friend, think through the questions you want to ask to uncover the opportunity or issue. I typically call asking the right questions that give you the most information "high-gain questions." That along with asking the right questions in a specific order can help get to the root of the problem, issue or opportunity and can envoke change. Take time to listen before giving a recommendation or advice because each situation is different, enough though some may appear similar on the surface. Asking the right questions can guide you towards a solution, plus it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Choose the highroad, whenever you're dealing with a difficult situation or difficult people, choose the high road. You're less likely to get stuck in the mud, get bogged down on the details, or get sucked into the negativity. Choose the future you want to be in. Choose your actions, reactions, and words carefully. After all, choosing the high road is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Orthrus was a mythological creature that was a two headed dog. Stop and think of the advantages of being a two headed dog... What did you come up with? Well, chances are that having two heads would make it harder to kill. Also, having two heads would require each head to work together with their body for the best outcome to any situation. Next time you have a difficult situation become Orthrus and ask someone for help or their advice. I believe that it's alright to win by yourself but you can't fail by yourself, so ask for help or if it's offered...take it. The only thing better than Orthus with two heads, was Cerberus, Othrus's brother who had three heads. :) it's okay to get help from several others. After all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. "I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken." Psalm 16:8 (NIV) This past weekend I went out of town for a funeral and had the opportunity to stay with my cousin and her husband. I learned a lot about the planting and the harvesting season. I learned quite a bit about farming and the 2,200 acres that they grow corn and soy beans. Farming builds character, a good work ethic and can get you into shape due to the shear physical labor involved. I have great respect for my cousin's family, which is the fifth generation to farm their land. Thank the next farmer you see because it is a noble profession and models the way in so many areas for others. Look back through your photos from 20 years ago. Who was in the pictures that is not family then that you are still friends with? They are your friends. Make te to keep these relationships. These are the people that you hold near and dear to your heart that are real friends. Keeping friends is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. In memory of Judy Park, one wonderful woman and longtime family friend. She will be missed. |
