Choose wisely when making a decision. The best way to know how to choose wisely is to think with the end in mind. Basically, when you are at the end of your life looking back, how do you want to be remembered? What did you stand for? Stand up for? Believe? Believe in? Did you Give? Did you Love? Did you put others ahead of yourself? Did you serve? Did you lead by example? Did you protect? Provide? And so on...So, when you know how you want to end and what you want accomplish and leave behind. What memories and feelings you want your loved ones to have about you and about your relationship, well, when you know that...then making decisions now is much easier. You can truly choose wisely. Be there for your family and your friends. Truly do life together. You won't regret making the right choice and choosing wisely. After all, making wise choices is the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Ephesians 6:11-18Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. When faced with a challenging or uphill climb in any given situation, don't run and hide. But standup, figure out a plan to push through and achieve and win. Don't procrastinate. Don't lock yourself in your house. Don't avoid your manager, your family, or your friends. Make sure you don't run and hide, but instead face the situation head on and take ownership of it. That is what you want to do to model the way for others. Find a way to make it happen. When faced with an uphill climb or challenges that seem insurmountable, find a way to make it happen. If you believe you can you will. Map out a game plan, map out the path, take one step at a time, and push through to win. After all finding a way to make it happen is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. I really enjoy my beautiful daughter. After a long stressful day at the office, I get to come home to my wonderful family and hear my daughter say "daddy's home" as she runs to the garage door to give me big hugs and kisses. It's great to know she missed me so and is so glad that I am home. Enjoy your family, after all it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. The older I get the more that I just enjoy celebrating birthdays by having the people that you like and love around you. I enjoy celebrating my birthday with family and friends. And by getting great wishes from people letting you know that they are thinking about you. To me, celebrating my birthday is more about enjoying time and creating great memories than stuff. So enjoy your next birthday surrounded by great family and friends. By those people that love you, accept you, encourge you, hold you a accountable, and those that you can have a great time together and laugh with. After all it's these great memories with those that you are doing life with, that make special days like your birthday even more special. I enjoyed the cards and gifts from my family and friends and especially the Watkins family traditional birthday chocolate cake with caramel icing that my wonderful wife made for me. Thanks for all of the well wishes from my family and friends, from those near and far. I have had a wonderful day. Choose cash over credit every time. Other cultures around the world do transactions with only cash, no matter what the currency. Something can be learned from someone who uses only cash. Don't spend more than you make. Get your children a piggy bank that has a slot for saving, spending, and giving. Teach them young and lead by example. Don't be a slave to the lender. After all using cash instead of credit is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Push yourself. You can do more than you think you can or ever thought you could. In times of stress, people revert to habit. So in stressful times make sure that you push yourself so you can overcome, achieve, and win. After all, pushing yourself is the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Our church has been reading Proverbs in July, a chapter a day. Very wise words from a very wise man. You should join in the reading... Proverbs 1:1-7 (NIV)Prologue: Purpose and Theme1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; 3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; 4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young-- 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance-- 6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Get real and have realistic expectations. Having unrealistic expectations is not good. It doesn't allow people to just be themselves. Unrealistic expectations is really just an attempt for you to control a situation that you really don't have control over. Encourage others to live to their full potential. It will also help you not try and control a situation and realize that God is truly in control. After all it's the right thing to so and it models the way for others. |
