"A faithful employee is as invigorating as a cool day in the hot summertime. He refreshes the soul of his boss. -Proverbs 25:13
How do you go to market if you are in sales? As a Sales Representative or as a Trusted Adviser? The BusinessDictionary.com defines Sales Representative as a "salesperson or agent (whether or not under the direct control of a firm) authorized to solicit business for a firm, and compensated usually through a commission or salary, or a combination of both." Jeff Goldstein (http://www.jeffgoldstein.wordpress.com) defines a Trusted Adviser as "An expert in a given subject that works with a customer / prospect to understand their problems and to help them understand how they can solve their problems, typically within the bounds of the Trusted Adviser's subject expertise and products. Who would you rather buy from? Check out Jeff's blog on being a Trusted Adviser: (Copy and paste this link in your browser) http://jeffgoldstein.wordpress.com/2009/10/26/are-you-a-trusted-advisor/ I think you'll find that being a Trusted Adviser will take extra effort, time and a different mindset, but will set you apart from your competitors. Top performers realize what they need to do every minute, of every hour, of every day. Top performers, do what they know they need to do, when they need to do it, even when they don 't feel like it. Top performers realize a good work-life balance helps manage their stress, keeps their mind sharp, and helps them to be able to laugh and enjoy their work and their life. Now that I am grown, I finally realize what my paternal grandmother used to say when she was having a difficult day..."tomorrow will be better." She didn't say maybe, I think, or I'll try, but it was short, simple, and confident. Tomorrow will be better. When going through tough times, instead of asking "Why is this happening to me?" try asking "What does God want me to learn from this experience?" "God allows us to feel pain for a reason: to protect us. God uses many things to show us what to avoid, and painful consequences often teach us lessons quickly." - Tony Dungy "Quiet Strength" calendar (July 16) I 've come to realize that when faced with tough times, whether at work or in marriage, you will face a fork in the road. You will have to choose to either push through or quit. Quitting is the easy way, but the bolder, more challenging, and more rewarding choice is the path where you push through. This is the path of choice where true growth and change happens. I encourage you and others to push through. You 'll be pleasantly surprised at what's on the other side of the pushing through choice. "God gives each one of us unique gifts, abilities, and passions. How well we use those qualities to have an impact on the world around us determines how "successful" we really are." - Tony Dungy "Quiet Strength" calendar (June 22) |
