The best organizations have the best people. Having worked now for six fortune 500 companies, I realize that there is a trend and why I have stayed with Fortune 500 companies. It's all about the people. I have worked with some of the best people in these companies and I'm doing it again at WM. The biggest differentiator is the people. So understand who you work with and who you want to work for. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others.
Teamwork, you have to be able to learn to work with others. I learned growing up working together around the house with household chores. My mother used to say, "many hands make light work." It's a great way to learn and grow together. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Don't get defensive ever. There's no need to get defensive and bow up when someone's asking questions or just trying to understand the situation. Make sure that you own what you say and do and be open to feedback. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Watch to make sure that you don't come across being arrogant. There's no need for that and it says a lot more about you than the people that you're talking to. Learn to be humble. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. As part of our small group, this past weekend we read and studied chapter 4 of the Lead Your Family Like Jesus book and DVD study guide from Ken Blanchard. When the first question asked how long do you have to impact your children? I I went on to figure out how many hours I have left with our children based on the hours left between now and their graduation from high school. It's amazing to think how much time I really have to spend time with them before they leave for college. If you've never sat down and figured it out, I recommend that you do that so that you make every minute count. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. Sometimes a friend needs help, but they may not know they need help or know there's an issue. What do you do in the situations? Do you lovingly approach them, do you wait, or when do you know when to step in and help. Sometimes you need to seek wise counsel to make sure your approach is the best way for your friend or loved one to receive it. Make sure that you pray about it first, seek wise counsel, determine the best course of action, and execute at a high level. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17 Sometimes you make friends with people that you wouldn't think you'd ever be friends with. And that's OK. I believe that God places you where you need to be, in the right relationships,at the right time. Our time here and earth is limited so make every minute count. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models to way for others. Support your mate, and find his or her passion and help them out. When you support them in the one or two things that is the most fulfilling for them and makes them the happiest it's the right thing to do, and it models the way for others. Don't wait doing what you should do today until tomorrow. Sometimes when you wait and think you can do it tomorrow, it never happens. So make sure that you do what you need to do, when you need to do it, even if you don't feel like it. After all, it's the right thing to do and it models the way for others. |
